Throw open the doors

Dyeing Navy and Emerald Ostrich Feathers

Last year it was really hot at this time of year. As I work my deadlines this year we are again having the most amazing weather. I do hope it will last. I love working with the windows thrown open and cool breezes flowing in the open door ways. It is especially nice when the dye pot is operating, as the smell of vinegar simmering is not that appealing and the breeze most welcome.

This year I have one custom order which has been made with Ostrich feathers - great plumes of fluff which are hand dyed in Emerald and Navy Blue.

This type of feather is quite something by itself and doesn't really require much accompaniment. Their share size and the bright colours make a big impression and I feel anything else might be lost in them.
